| Apartment Description: |
A great studio located two streets behind the Pantheon, right in the centre of Paris, an exquisite place for your holiday in the city of lights and culture. A journey through history.
This remarkable studio is found on the second floor of the most surprising if not amazing building. The entrance hall and staircase are filled with history, a history that goes back to 1680, where at the time in this place was a monastery and a convent. The high ceilings and the apparent beams outlining the building structure, the most beautiful front door entrances made of heavy and old oak wood, everything sends you centuries back. This studio, like all the apartments in this particular building, is made from old converted convent cells, in this case two cells. You walk in to the open space that has two tall windows looking onto the rue Thouin; there is a bar on your left that leads to the small but very practical kitchen. Just like the building, the studio has the most amazing apparent beams that make you think you’re on board a boat in your private and comfy cabin. The sofa bed is comfortable and very discreet which fits with the decoration of the studio which is sober and educated. There is also a large cupboard for your clothes and all the shopping you will bring back home. The bathroom (shower) is clean and practical; it is separate from the toilets, there is no washing machine but you have a laundrette next to the entrance of the building. The general feeling of the studio is peaceful and contemplative.
The rue Thouin is found at the heart of the world famous "quartier latin", it is just at the back of the Pantheon, and leads onto the rue Mouffetard on one side and the rue Cardinal Lemoine on the other. In other words you are here in a "village", probably one of the most ancient neighbourhoods of Paris. The rue Mouffetard has a very famous market, with all the typical French products, such a wine, cheese and bread "bien sûr". The Place de la Contrescarpe, right behind, is just like a traditional French village square, surrounded with its cafés and restaurants, people enjoying life and their drinks on the terraces. Locally, you will find anything you need, food stores, clothe shops and of course all the cultural attractions of Paris. An outstanding place to visit is found locally: the Arènes de Lutèce, an authentic roman arena, a great place to walk around and let yourself drift away in history... All forms of transport are found locally, you even have a Velib' station (the Parisian bicycle hiring system) right bellow the studio. The area is lively and safe, full of cultural attractions and restaurants, shops and of course delicatessens.
A great and beautiful studio found in the heart of Paris. A great place for a couple on holiday, a very good place to discover the joys and delights of Paris.
We have two tips for this studio: first the Moissonier, a great traditional French restaurant found 28 rue Fossés Saint Bernard (it’s in the Michelin Guide and isn’t too expensive); and then, the next morning, for your morning run the Jardin des Plantes, also home to the most ancient zoo in the world.
